Carrefour names digital chief as head of French hypermarkets business

Carrefour has selected its digital chief Marie Cheval as the new head of its French hypermarket business, signalling its efforts to grow its digital and online business.
Cheval, currently the Executive Director for E-Commerce, Services and Digital Transformation, will replace Alain Rabec as Executive Director for Hypermarkets France.
The French retailer is currently undertaking a five-year plan to cut costs, boost e-commerce investment and expand into convenience stores.

In a statement, Carrefour said that Cheval will be primarily responsible for “bringing the transformation of the operational and commercial model of the hypermarket business, which is a major challenge for the success of the Carrefour’s Transformation Plan.”
Meanwhile, Enrique Garcia Lopez has been appointed as Executive Director for E-commerce and Digital Transformation.
“The work we have accomplished over the past year has allowed Carrefour to accelerate its development in e-commerce and to progress on the path of digitization and omnichannel retail,” Carrefour said in a statement.
“This dynamic of transformation and growth, to which the group is committed, is more than ever essential for the future of Carrefour."
