Red Sea Global's new entertainment complex features the kingdom's largest saltwater surf pool and more than 20 attractions opening 1 March

Red Sea Global has unveiled ADRENA, a new adventure and entertainment district launching on 1 March within Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea tourism destination.

The venue will host more than 20 attractions focused on water sports and extreme activities, including what the developer calls the kingdom’s largest saltwater surf pool, a wakeboarding lake, and a range of high-adrenaline slides. The project marks a major investment in aquatic engineering and leisure infrastructure.

ADRENA demonstrates how large-scale tourism ventures are adopting specialised solutions in marine construction and water management, integrating technology such as programmable wave pools and closed-loop seawater systems to address sustainability challenges.

Located near Shura Island, the district aims to attract visitors from across The Red Sea destination and beyond, offering experiences from surfing and wakeboarding to cliff diving and skateboarding.

John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global, says: “Our unique adventure and entertainment district isn’t just about offering thrilling experiences, it’s about embodying the freedom of a coastal lifestyle – the energy, the community, the connection with nature.

“We’ve built ADRENA with sustainability at its core, demonstrating our commitment to regenerative tourism and ensuring an unforgettable experience for every guest, day and night. We look forward to welcoming visitors in the coming weeks.”

Red Sea Sports & Entertainment Co. will oversee ADRENA’s operations. The company also manages WAMA, dedicated to water sports; Galaxea, which provides underwater experiences; and Akun, specialising in land-based adventures.

Kingdom’s largest saltwater surf pool takes centre stage

The signature feature will be a 215-metre-long saltwater surf pool – set to become the largest in Saudi Arabia – capable of generating waves up to 2.1 metres high. Customisable wave settings will cater to various skill levels, made possible by advanced hydraulic systems, reinforced basins, and corrosion-resistant materials.

Additional facilities include a wakeboarding lake, snorkelling trails, and a six-metre-deep diving pool. Families can enjoy a children’s water play area and a floating inflatable obstacle course, while adventure-lovers can take on a skatepark, BMX pump track, beach sports zones for football and volleyball, an overwater zip line, and a 10-metre “slip ’n’ fly” slide.

Accessibility is built into the district’s layout, featuring zero-depth pool entries  and adaptable equipment for activities such as bodyboarding, paddleboarding, diving, and snorkelling – ensuring inclusivity for all guests.

Closed-loop water systems anchor environmental approach

Constructed under Red Sea Global’s sustainable development strategy, ADRENA operates a closed-loop system that draws in seawater, filters it for use across the attractions, and returns it clean and purified.

Freshwater used within the district is recycled for irrigation, helping to reduce environmental impact.

The Red Sea destination, which welcomed its first guests in 2023, currently features nine hotels as well as the Thuwal Private Retreat off the coast of Jeddah. Red Sea International Airport serves as the destination’s main gateway, offering regular domestic and international flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, and Milan.
