Brazil makes way for the International Pork and Poultry Show SIAVS 2015

Professionals in the white meat industry will be gathering in São Paulo next month. From July 28 to July 30, the industry will be meeting in Brazil’s capital for the International Pork and Poultry Show—SIAVS (Salão Internacional de Avicultura e Suinocultura) 2015—hosted by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) at Anhembi Parque.

According to the show, it is the largest and most important conference and trade show for the pork and poultry sector, bringing together over 100 official exhibitors and speakers plus thousands of industry professionals throughout the supply chain from CEOs of production and processing to researchers, consultants, students and analysts within the field.

With less than two months until the event, ABPA has already announced several major highlights for attendees. According to the event website, Antônio Delfim Netto—economist, professor, and Brazil’s former Minister of Finance, Agriculture, and Planning—will open the event with a keynote speech on the first day of SIAVS 2015. “Recognized as a leading authority in the national economic scenario, Delfim Netto will present to the public his vision of Brazilian prospects face the new challenges posed by the economy,” says ABPA.

Another expected highlight of the event will be a leadership panel entitled “Painel Empresarial: O que pensam os CEOS” (“Business Panel: What do the CEOs think?”). The panel will feature industry leaders from some of the world’s largest livestock-based agribusinesses—confirmed leaders include Wesley Batista (JBS SA), Pedro Faria (BRF), and Mario Lanznaster (Aurora Foods). These leaders will be discussing the future of the livestock industry, including globalization of the meat industry and production and exporting challenges that can be expected in the next decade.

"In 2013, the CEOs of the Panel noted issues and barriers affecting the competitiveness of agribusiness producers and exporters,” said ABPA chief executive Francisco Turra in the association’s press release. “This time, the CEOs of the largest companies and cooperatives in the country will point the way to Brazil following as a world leader.”
