Happy Friday! It may be November, but it’s still Halloween in our hearts so how about some candy-coated cheer and good will to carry us into the weekend?

As we know, Mars Inc. is riding the snack food nostalgia wave and bringing M&Ms Crispy back to store shelves starting in January 2015. But as some have pointed out, January 2015 is a long time to wait when you’re thinking about delicious crispy chocolate candies. “Why do we have to wait until January?” one fan named Olivia asked on the brand’s Facebook page. “Halloween is the best time to get out the candy!”

Mars recognized her very valid point (and also recognizes a good opportunity to build a little excitement when they see it) and decided to get the M&Ms Crispy party started early by making Olivia a brand ambassador for the day as the only house in the country passing out M&Ms Crispy on Halloween. To ramp up nostalgic good feelings even further for Olivia and her Chicago neighbors, M&Ms also sent out former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen to deliver the chocolates and help with Halloween candy duty.

It’s definitely a cute idea, underscoring the fact that bringing a discontinued product like M&Ms Crispy back is all about meeting consumer demand and keeping fans happy. It’s also just a great way for Mars to keep M&Ms Crispy fresh in consumers’ minds during these last few months, so that when January finally rolls around and their actual Halloween candy stashes are all gone, they’ll be ready.
