JBS S.A. is currently the largest meat processing company and the largest exporter of animal protein in the world. Founded by rancher Jose Batista Sobrinho in 1953 in Anápolis, in central Brazil, JBS was the first business to successfully consolidate Brazil’s beef industry into a global powerhouse. Through the course of its six decades in business, JBS has steadily grown from a livestock abattoir into a full factory processor of beef, chicken, poultry, lamb and byproducts. In addition, JBS is also involved in the production of leather, collagen, biodiesel, packaging, and other operations.

Now based in the city of São Paulo, JBS S.A. currently operates 340 production facilities and businesses with its 185,000 employees and a presence in 22 countries. JBS has a hand in many well-known brands in Brazil and around the world including Swift Armour, Pilgrim’s Pride, Friboi, Seara, and Gold Kist Farms.
