ConAgra Foods was initially founded in 1919 under the name Nebraska Consolidated Mills. While it was founded as a grain milling collective, the company first moved into the world of food processing with the launch of Duncan Hines in the 1950s.
In the 1970s the company changed its name to Consolidated Agriculture, or ConAgra, signaling a pivot from grain-based consumer products toward livestock feed and meat products. In addition to being a top private label manufacturer, ConAgra Foods is home to a large portfolio of consumer brands from Wesson® and Hunt’s® to Healthy Choice® and Chef Boyardee®. With more than 36,000 employees, ConAgra Foods is among the largest food processing companies in North America.
