The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), also known collectively as the Farm Bureau, was founded in 1919 to promote and advance the interests of America’s farming communities. Non-partisan and non-sectarian in nature, the Farm Bureau is recognized as the largest trade association for the farming industry.

“The purpose of Farm Bureau is to make the business of farming more profitable, and the community a better place to live,” reads a statement by the original founders of the Farm Bureau in 1920. “Farm Bureau should provide an organization in which members may secure the benefits of unified efforts in a way which could never be accomplished through individual effort.”

Today the Farm Bureau continues that mission to be the “unified national voice of agriculture,” working hard to improve the lives of rural American farm owners and farm workers by promoting education, advancing economic opportunities, and addressing important social issues affecting the farming community.
